Kya baat.

The India campaign that rewrote how OYO showed up in family conversations.

The joke in Indian households — for years — was that OYO was where couples went to "not get married yet." A punchline. A wink. A meme.

The joke had a real business cost. Families didn't book OYO. Fathers didn't book OYO for their daughters. Parents didn't approve of it for their kids' trips. Half the country's household decision-makers had quietly written the brand off before ever considering it for their own use.

#KyaBaatKarRaheHo — "what are you talking about?" — was the campaign built to flip that assumption. Not by defending the brand. By making it culturally indefensible to hold on to the old joke.

Yahi baat kar rahe hai hum — this is what we're talking about. The India campaign anchor, positioning OYO's serviced premium hotels as the kind of stay you'd tell your family about.

The insight was that families weren't the barrier — perception was. Once you showed a father, a mother, an aunt, a grandparent an actual OYO property with a well-turned-out reception and a clean, comfortable room, the objection collapsed.

So the campaign didn't argue. It showed. Real properties. Real families. Real moments of "oh — this is what OYO is now?" — captured in language that Indian households actually use, in Hindi that felt like Hindi, not like translated English.

Then we did it again in Indonesian, for the Southeast Asian market, with the same insight-first translation: hotel untuk semua keluarga — a hotel for all families.

Hotel untuk semua keluarga — a hotel for all families. The Indonesian-market adaptation, built on the same insight but tuned to local family idiom.

The campaign didn't argue with the joke. It made the joke obsolete.

#KyaBaatKarRaheHo worked because it took the perception problem seriously as a business problem, not a comms one. The brand didn't need clever writing. It needed the household decision-makers to see actual OYOs and understand what the brand had quietly become.

The campaign moved brand awareness, brand consideration, and daily active users in every market it ran in. But the specific KPI worth naming: it changed how OYO got discussed at Indian family dinner tables. That was the point.
